Dr. Ericka Ghersi

I am a committed foreign language instructor interested in teaching languages using technology as a main tool for L2 acquisition. I believe that networking sites and other online applications are engaging tools that along with traditional learning can become a potential way of acquiring a second language. In order to reach my goal, my objectives are to find the right learning strategies for each student, as well as the type of engaging methods each of them need to study not only to succeed when acquiring a second language, but also to learn how to find the right technological tools and personal learning environment.

MY LATEST RESEARCH

In Portuguese, students need to record themselves per lesson, and talk about topics related to the lessson learned. They choose their own topic from a list given at the beginning of each lesson. Once recorded, students give feedback to their classmates about the video, and also students share networking sites and applications found during the semester.

Students practicing in pair for their coming oral exam. The activity includes a list of topics chosen from lessons 1 trhough 3. They start practicing by introducing themselves to the classmate, talking about the course they are taking, professors they like and dislike, and roomates.
